exploring human/nonhuman relations and speculative futures. Through emerging technologies—including artificial intelligence, virtual reality, motion capture, and digital avatars—their multifaceted world-building projects examine how ecological intimacies influence individual and social identity.
King has exhibited internationally, including at the Irish Museum of Modern Art, the New Museum, the Rockford Museum of Art, and the NCAD Gallery. Their work has also been featured at international festivals such as Oberhausen, EXPO Chicago, the Festival RealMix in Bogotá, and the Austrian American Film Festival. They have been an artist-in-residence at programs including the Sacatar Foundation, the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council Arts Center, and the Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture. Their work has received funding and project support from the Irish Arts Council, Science Sandbox, NEW INC, the Simons Foundation, the Andrew Fisher Fellowship, and the Owen Walsh Award.
They hold an MFA in Visual Arts from Columbia University and a BFA in Fine Art from the National College of Art and Design (NCAD), where they graduated as Valedictorian. King is the Assistant Professor of Interactive Digital Media at Stevens Institute of Technology in the School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences.
